RE: The Future of The City and SCC Communications
For the past several years The City has served our church to help facilitate meaningful community and communication. However, we have been informed by the developers of The City (ACS Technologies) that the end of life date for The City will be February 28, 2019.
What Does This Mean?
Effective March 1, 2019, The City will permanently go offline and will no longer serve as a communication tool for our church, nor any other church.
How Will We Communicate?
Several methods of communication are already available to us and some will likely see greater use going forward. These methods include, but are not limited to:
Website
www.aplacetobelong.ca will remain in place and will become an increasingly important communication tool for our church. Bookmark our homepage and visit often!
Weekly Newsletter
A weekly newsletter is already being sent out by email to all contacts in our database. This is a new communication tool for our church and we believe it will be an effective one.
Social Media
Facebook and Instagram are already utilized in a variety of ways for public, community-oriented communication. Private, campus-specific Facebook groups will be available to replace the connecting and networking aspects of The City.
Local, Campus-Specific Communication
In our multi-site context, not all communication is relevant for everyone all the time. Campus-specific communication will continue to be delivered in local contexts by a variety of methods including announcements, PowerPoint slides, videos, posters, letters, etc.
While no action is required of you in terms of the retirement of The City, we are inviting you to engage in the communication flow of the church, including the methods listed above. Check the website often, be sure we have your correct email address and other contact information, get on social media, attend weekend services...these are just a few things you can do to make sure that you stay informed and connected.
